Many of the Fauerbach siblings, some kids and our friend Brad sailed overnight out of Key West. 15 hours later we arrived in the beautiful Gaviota marina, Cuba. Spent several days being tourists before we head back to Key West. Great time, great weather, and fun to sail with family!

This year, the crew had sailed several race weeks together so there was more sense of working together. Everyday we had theme shirts. Lots of fun, and we placed each day in our class. Progress!

As the boat crew traveled from Jamiaca to Guatemala, Cissy, Sue and Kristine flew to Guatemala City and spent several days exploring then driving to Amatique Bay to meet the boat. We explored a few ruins along the way to the resort. The taxi driver took an interesting turn which led to the most narrow bridge that his wheels barely fit. We were white knucked until we reached the other side of the bridge!

Leaving Amatique Bay for Rio Dulce. We headed to Livingston Guatemala for checkin. When customs and immigration process was completed, we had a guide to follow up the river safely getting to Frontera where our lodge was. Rio was beautiful and we took an opportunity to drop anchor and take a small tour of caves and river. We arrived at Tortuga River Lodge and settled in.

Ken returned to US for work, I stayed on the boat with Nancy Rocha for a week. When Ken returned to Tortugal River Lodge he brought along Wendell, Joey and Cole. Jori and Tom arrived to complete our next sailing crew. After almost one monthe, Grateful Red left its temporary home in the Rio Dulce to head to Placencia Belize. Our first stop before exiting the Rio was Burnt Key. Very unused little harbor with one island restaurant that served us great ribs. The next day we continued on. We spent the next several days exploring small islands, being holed up in the boat all day because of heavy rain, and finally made it to Placencia.

We dropped off Cole, Joey, Jori and Tom in Placencia for their trip home. Molly arrived for her week where we traveled from Placencia to Belize City. Snorkling and eating Conch Ceviche everyday thanks to Wendells Culinary skills!
