Lavante cloud over Gibraltar

October 13th,
Paul Sundberg arrived to sunny weather in Gibraltar.  The past week we had experienced the local
cloud over the rock compliments of the lavante winds.  We had 3 days of beautiful sunshine when he
was here and that was a bonus.

Time off in Gibraltar

Ken and I had more than a week on the boat to ourselves to
catch up on cleaning, maintenance and general day to day.  It really was lovely and we found several
nice restaurants and local shops that provided us with great dining and
entertainment.  I managed to get all 6
wenches cleaned and greased (my job), we had the local chandlery do some
service work on the boat including a great stainless bracket to hold our
gangplank alongside the back stanchion when not in use.

Ceuta to Gibraltar

Leaving Ceuta we had a shorter sail day with Gibraltar as
our final stop on this leg.

Even though it would only take us 3 ½ hours to sail again we were faced with large swells
and MANY freighters and barges to avoid.
The Bay of Gibraltar is littered with ships waiting to come in or go out
and on first and second glance is very commercial.  We found Queensway Quay, our marina and after
calling them on VHF, were directed to our berth we would maintain for the next
16 days.  Niki and John left the
following day (Saturday) and Ron stayed through Monday, Oct 3rd,
giving him a brief opportunity to check out Gibraltar.  (I think he did some power shopping there!)
